By Stoffb, February 1st, 2010

Another very talented digital artist but this time from Lublin in Poland: Marek Okon aka Omen2501. The videogame universe is really present in OmeN2501’s style but I was really astonished by the quality of his work. The first digital piece in this selection with the girl in the rain is simply fantastic…

Sean Freeman - Design

By Stoffb, January 19th, 2010

About a year ago I showcased the sublime work of UK based designer Sean Freeman. Randomly this week I found some of Sean’s recent designs and was amazed by his improvment! I didn’t think it would be possible to improve because he had such incredible skills already; but he managed it! The selection above is just a sample of his work showing how much details and efforts he can put in his creations. Sean Freeman really has an eye for typography, movement, and his constant search for perfection makes him a target of choice for big companies like Nike, The Guardian, The New York Times and many more to hire his services… For more examples of Sean’s work please visit his website thereis.co.uk.

Gwen Vanhee aka Revoid

By Stoffb, October 26th, 2009

Back in March, at the start of HautStyle as a design blog, was mentioned a Belgian artist called Revoid aka Gwen Vanhee. Today, after random clicks, browsing and reading I found these awesome videos/animations realised by this same Revoid. These animations are made using Flash and AS3, saved frame by frame as an image then imported into Premiere. The colours and the textures created in these interactive mark making animations are wonderful.

Marie Blanco Hendrickx aka Mijn Schatje

By Stoffb, October 5th, 2009

Last week end was the 2009 edition of the Newcastle Gateshead Art Fair at the Sage. Living only minutes away from the venue and having been invited to the VIP opening night I had absolutely no excuses not to turn up. There were quite a few interesting art galleries, artists and photographers that I’m going to talk about during the week starting today with one of my “coeup de coeur” Marie Blanco Hendrickx aka Mijn Schatje.

Marie is currently living in Paris and works as a illustrator and graphic designer. She’s half Spanish (father), half Dutch (mother) and has been travelling all over Europe as a child and even further away as an adult. Her work is based on fairy tales and a totally imaginary world she’s been developing (or living in) as she was growing up. She even thought for a long time Jimi Hendrix was her uncle apparently. She’s now an active member in the Parisian music scene where she creates CD covers for various Electro Labels like Record Makers (founded by the duo Air). Her work is globally quite dark but also very clean, pure and poetic which somehow emphasize the sadness of her wide eye characters/dolls.

Marie Blanco Hendrickx was represented in the Newcastle Gateshead Art Fair by Opus Art which is currently hosting an exhibition (3 - 31 October 2009) called Dark Surrealism where some of Marie’s pieces will be showcased with the like of Dan Baldwin, Claudia Drake and many more.

Serge Birault - Digital Art

By Stoffb, September 23rd, 2009

Simply astonishing illustrations by French digital artist Serge Birault. I was just speechless in front of his latest pieces and impressed by the level of details, the control of the lights and the look and feel of the textures. I even like the small imperfections especially on his models breasts proportions and angles.
